Day 1: Nairobi to Mt Kenya Bandas (2,900m) — Drive & trek through bamboo forest (10km, 3hrs)

Itineraries
Day 1
Nairobi- Mt Kenya Bandas (2,900m) 3hrs, 10km walk, 650m ascent
Depart from Nairobi at 0800hrs, driving through agricultural country up to Chogoria town for lunch. After lunch, we take 4×4 and drive up to the edge of the bamboo forest where we start our trekking through the dense bamboo forest for a distance of 10 km to the Mt Kenya Bandas.

Day 2
Day 2: Mt Kenya Bandas – Lake Ellis Campsite (3,600m)
After breakfast and sorting of porter loads, we set off up the mountain at a nice and easy pace. A slightly longer walk via Lake Ellis gives scenic views of Mugi, Ithanguni and the Giants Billiards Table, whilst if we follow the river near road head, upstream for about 3 km, the foreground scenery and flora is particularly beautiful. Lunch on the banks of a stream, then it’s time to cut up the left-hand hillside to our camp at about 3,600m, well away from any of the more “touristic” areas.

Day 3
lake Ellis-Lake Michaelson (4000m asl)
This is a bit longer and tiring day, breakfast served at 7am and start walking at 8am
Total distance of about 10km and gaining an altitude of 650m, the highest altitude on this day is 4200m later dropping down the gorges valley to Michaelson campsite.
Day 4
Lake Michaelson-Simba tarn (m4600m asl)
Breakfast is served at 8am , this is a short day mostly termed as an acclimatization day, distance about 5km taking between 4-5hrs
Lunch is served at the camp, and later a short walk is optional or just relax to get ready for the summit
Day 5
Simba Tan- Summit 4985m- Nairobi
At about 3.30am wake up, prepare and have a light bite an hot drink, about 430am hike up the steep scree to summit (4985m asl) about 2.5km and taking 2.5hrs , getting to the peak and catch sunrise. Later on decent to Old Moses Camp(3300m) for lunch then head back to Nairobi. Drop off at the Hotel/pick up point.
